DAF Trucks’ New CF and New XF truck ranges have scooped Transport News magazine’s Top Truck Award for 2018. The traditional New Year announcement from the leading truck and transport publication for Scotland and the north of England, included comments from Editor, Alistair Vallance, who said, “A well designed cab shell’s steel structure can hold its head up on the production line for even a couple of decades. What matters is the way that the interiors are developed and the drivelines updated…it soon became apparent that the contents had been revisited from almost every angle.”
The New CF and New XF beat off stiff competition from its rivals, including the LNG-powered Stralis from Iveco and, in joint third position, the Renault T380 26-tonne rigid and Volvo’s FH500 tractor.
The Top Truck Award follows last November’s International Truck of the Year 2018 award for the New CF and New XF series and, in December, two headline awards at the Commercial Fleet Awards – Commercial Fleet Truck of the Year for the DAF LF range and Truck Fleet Manufacturer of the Year.
Robin Easton, DAF Trucks’ Managing Director in the UK, said, “This is fantastic news to kick-off the New Year. We have a strong customer base in Scotland with a number of New CF and New XF operators reaping the rewards of improved fuel economy from new, uprated PACCAR MX-11 and MX-13 engines.
“The Top Truck Award,” he said, “is the fourth major honour DAF Trucks has picked up in just the last two months, and is the culmination of a busy 12 months previously in which we have replaced our entire LF, CF and XF truck ranges. To date, and since their launch at last year’s CV Show,” he added, “we have registered over 1,100 New CF and New XF models, further cementing our commanding 30% overall market share above 6.0-tonnes.”
