Man Truck & Bus UK have signed World Cup legend Sir Geoff Hurst to help launch the new vehicle registration number plates this September when the new 66 plate is unveiled. MAN Truck & Bus UK will be revealing only 66 new range limited edition 66 registration plate MAN TGX tractor units to coincide with 50 years since England won the World Cup in 1966.
MAN Truck & Bus UK Managing Director, Simon Elliott said "It’s a real honour to be working with Sir Geoff on this initiative. Our entire business, both here in the UK and in Germany has total respect for him as a player and a footballing ambassador, and we just couldn’t miss the chance to recognise this landmark and the 66 plate."
Sir Geoff scored a famous hat-trick in the 1966 World Cup final that won England the trophy the last time.
Sir Geoff said "It’s a brilliant idea and a great way to celebrate this year’s anniversary. I’m very pleased to have been asked to be a part of it, especially with the German-English connection. It’s a quality company and a quality product and I think it’ll be great for them and the local area. The company is clearly run very well and they’ve done a great job organising all this for the 50 year anniversary."
All customers who purchase one of the limited edition MAN trucks will get to meet Sir Geoff at a special handover ceremony to be held at Wembley this September.
Simon Elliot added: "We are organising a special drive-away luncheon in Wembley for all the customers who purchase a truck, where Sir Geoff will host the event and personally hand over the trucks to our customers."
