Scania participates in Pride Parades every year to show support for the LGBTQI+ community. We do a lot to shape an inclusive and diverse workplace where everyone feels safe and accepted for who they are, but more can be done.

Head of People & Culture Jeanna Tällberg always keeps inclusion and diversity in mind: “Our workforce needs to reflect our customers and the markets we operate in. Diverse perspectives give a better performance. For us, it is business critical.”

Joining Pride is important because it’s a platform for the LGBTQI+ community to be visible and to spread understanding and acceptance in society. At Scania, a global network for the LGBTQI+ people at the company has started: “I’m truly excited to follow that development.”

The broadest range of skills
At Scania, Skill Capture means having people with the broadest possible range of skills, knowledge, backgrounds, and experiences. “It’s everything that makes you unique as an individual,” Tällberg says. A workplace where everyone feels genuinely valued and respected is fundamental for inclusion and psychological safety.

The work we do
Tällberg thinks Scania has made good progress in recent years, but more must be done. “We can do more because that is what Scania is all about.” She wants us to be quicker in reaching the right gender balance and to work more with inclusion and psychological safety. “And the area of neurodiversity is extra important for me. There, we really need to accelerate.”

So, a lot of great initiatives are ongoing. “But there is always potential to do more. And we will not stop until we get to where we need to be in our company, industry and society,” Tällberg concludes.
