The brand new state-of-the-art service centre for Scania Bridgwater was officially inaugurated by His Excellency Mr Torbjörn Sohlström, Sweden's Ambassador to the UK. The official opening event was attended by local transport operators and Scania Bridgwater customers, local dignitaries, and representatives from Scania (Great Britain) Limited's Milton Keynes headquarters and support centre .
The new three-acre site, which employs 27 staff, is perfectly placed for customers as it is close to junction 23 of the M5. Facilities include 11 work bays, a purpose-built recycling centre, as well as secure parking for 42 HGV’s and 51 cars.
A total of £5.3m has been invested in the site, which has been built to Scania’s global dealership template for efficient and sustainable dealer premises. It will provide a full range of all-makes servicing, repair, maintenance and parts services along with new and used truck sales.
Managing Director of Scania (Great Britain) Limited, Martin Hay, adds: “This opening is especially personal for me, as I was involved with the very first opening of Bridgwater in September 1995. I’m extremely proud to see how it has developed. It shows that through loyal customers and dedicated staff just what can be achieved. We have every confidence that Scania Bridgwater will continue to provide a fantastic service in the future.”
Scania Bridgwater General Manager, Nigel Champion, says: “Our new location will enable us to continue to achieve the high levels of customer service that we are associated with. The new location will provide more space for vehicles to manoeuvre
and reduce congestion and enable us to not only keep up with service demand, but grow the business too. We look forward to welcoming all of our customers to our new facility.”
As a leading-edge, purpose-built commercial vehicle facility, the development of Scania Bridgwater has seen the implementation of an environmental management plan to preserve local wildlife and minimise the site's impact on its surroundings. High efficiency heating is provided to the workshop areas via radiant panels, and air-source heat pumps further improve energy efficiency. During the construction period extensive use was made of local labour, plant and materials. The site has been developed by Roselea Properties Limited of Shipham, Somerset.
The new site will officially open for business at 6.00am on Tuesday 18th December 2018. Contact details are as follows:
