Volvo Trucks are lining up a total of fourteen new FH trucks for its stand at Truckfest, being held at the East of England Showground, Peterborough on 5th and 6th May 2019. In addition, two tractor units from Volvo’s official used truck network will also join the show-stopping FH display.
The trucks feature a huge variety of specifications and options that include Volvo’s new D13 Turbo Compound engine, low-friction rear axles and the latest I-See mapping software. Together with fuel-efficient diff ratios, a medium height chassis and optimised gear-shifting strategy, these form the main elements of Volvo’s recently-launched FH with I-Save.
Volvo are also showcasing all three FH cabs, with the Sleeper joined by the higher roof Globetrotter and Globetrotter XL options. Volvo’s award-winning I-Shift automated gearbox is now standard in all FHs, but two are fitted with the unique I-Shift Dual Clutch gearbox and, for heavier haulage operations, Volvo’s I-Shift with Crawler gears offers further options for slow speed manoeuvring.
Other exclusive options on show include Volvo’s Tandem Axle Lift, EXSTER – a remote steering interface – in conjunction with Volvo Dynamic Steering and active chassis for optimising the height on fully air-suspended vehicles.
Volvo’s safety credentials can be seen in its accident prevention features like Driver Alert Support, Lane Keeping Support and Lane Changing Support.
Europe’s most powerful production truck; the FH16-750 6x2 also makes a welcome appearance and showcases Volvo’s top-of-the-range offering including full air suspension amongst a host of unique features.
Two of the 6x2 trucks on display début Volvo’s new factory-fitted PTO equipment - a Sleeper and a Globetrotter, the last of which carries a twin hydraulic system for both tipper and walking floor trailer applications. These Lite tractor units are proving extremely popular with hauliers focusing on payload conscious transport assignments with leading fuel economy figures.
Two Used tractor units will also be present in the shape of a 2017 FH-460 13-litre 6x2 and a late 2015 FM-450 11-litre, both fitted with Globetrotter cabs.
To mark 60 years since Volvo first introduced the three-point safety belt, Volvo Trucks will once again display its ever-popular FM Roll-Over cab, which replicates a roll-over incident in a controlled environment.
The Volvo merchandise shop will host the new Volvo ‘Iron Mark’ Collection, launched in March and a range of collectable Volvo model trucks.
Local dealer, Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia, will also be selling a selection of their extensive range of Roadcrew truckers ‘goodies', such as cleaning products, security devices, bulb kits etc., together with some special one-off show offers.
Truckfest visitors with a competitive element will find a Driving Simulator on stand, with prizes for the best drives on each day and for social media users, there will be a competition based around the vehicles on display and a chance to win some Volvo merchandise.
Finally, Volvo hope to have a special celebrity guest or two on stand during the weekend, so pop along to the stand for more information.
